Are hose threads counter clockwise?

Gaer

Having a hard time hooking up my hoses. Are hose threads or outdoor faucet threading clockwise or counter clockwise? Sorry, I have no one to ask.

There is SOMETHING that's counter to this, Electrical maybe? hose threads, pipe threads, conduit adapters? I KNOW most are to the right but what is it that's reverse? Probably some plumbing fitting because I remember doing a lot of cussing under the sink!

The propane tank on my barbecue has left hand threads.
And if I remember right, on oxygen acetylene welding tanks.
Acetylene tanks have left hand threads.
Oxygen tanks have right hand threads.

AHHH! That's it! Thank you Hazy davy! This would have been one of those irritating little things that would have kept bothering me! Propane! Taht was it! Anyway, finally got all my hoses hooked up!

There are left hand and right hand threads. The standard is right hand threads. Left handed threads are used in specialized applications. For example, vehicle wheels and circular saw blades.

Thanks 911! It was propane connections and I'll bet it was circular saw blades I was thinking of! Thanks for clarifying that!

I just got a new hose and I think perhaps it's a milling issue because it was very hard to connect. Or, perhaps, one is milled in metric and my faucet isn't? Anyway, it's on half-butted!

The circular saw thing nearly made me pull my hair out when I first got mine. Sometimes still catch myself twisting right since I don't use it a lot.

Simply attempt to remove the hose collar by rotating it counterclockwise. It's possible that you unintentionally tightened the hose by turning it to the right side. Gently shake the hose from side to side and back and forth.

The handle of a conventional faucet or valve is turned counterclockwise to open it. By moving the handle in the opposite (clockwise) direction, the faucet or valve is closed. Given that the thread on the valve stem is a right-hand thread, this rotation is known as "right hand" construction.

Do fuel gas fittings have left-hand threads?

Fuel Gases, Acetylene, Propane, Polypropylene etc will have Left Hand Threads
because this stops Fuel Gas and Non Fuel Gas equipment from being mixed up, which is potentially VERY dangerous
