Are you a “call ahead” type person?

I certainly am. I always like to confirm.

I use the automated refill but I always call to make sure my prescriptions are ready.

Today I’m going to lunch with a friend. I called yesterday to see if the restaurant she likes is open today. They’re not. (What the heck is up with restaurants being closed today….Labor Day??…) I called 2 places – closed. Finally found one closeby that’s open.

I often call to make sure a store has an unusual item before I go. I can’t be rippin’ & runnin’ all over, wasting time, energy, and getting frustrated.

Some people say “Oh, they probably have it.” I don’t want to hear probably or maybe. You know what they say about “assuming”.

I work in retail so I'm all too familiar with people calling customer service with sometimes simple requests.
" Hello I'm coming from North Bergen but I need a TORO blade replacement for a hedge trimmer, I have the model number if you need it"
The person who just picked up the phone has three people in front of her, two calls on hold, and has no idea what this customer is asking for. She will either send the customer to the garden department where no one will pick up or say we have the part and hang up. Calling the big retailers can be tricky sometimes.

With the pharmacy though I always call ahead, even with the automated prescriptions.

Yeah, big retailers ....that's a little different. The main phone line is hectic/very busy. But I usually have good results when they transfer me to the correct department.

I don't call ahead to see if a store has a certain item, unless it's across town, then I'll verify before making a wasted trip. Seems like a lot of times, it's hard to get accurate information from someone on the other end of the phone anyway.
