I've had dogs for 42 of my 45 year marriage ! I'm a die hard animal lover . Once we bought our own house, it seems like we've always kept 3 dogs . I'm a sucker for pound dogs or unwanted pups . I do like cats , but I always get the feeling that "They own me" . Cat people know what I'm talking about !
I'm down to my last dog . She's 12 . All my dogs have been spoiled :) . I'm not sure if I want another dog when she goes ,but I know how lonely it will be without her. What about you ?

My first pet cat was when I was 4. It was a 'him' till she had kittens. That's a pic of my last cat, Fuzzybuddy. He's 17. I just don't understand dog people. All that drooling. Wet dog smell. Walking the dog. The barking. We cat people know what it's like to come home from a really hard day, and be totally ignored by your cat. It's heaven. That's why we're cat people.

I have had cats for the last 25 years and I love them but have to admit living with cats can be messy.

I do love dogs and really enjoy playing with my friends' dogs whenever they're around.

I'm an animal lover and have always had dogs and cats in my home. Currently I have one of each, and they are best friends. I love both cats and dogs.

I'm an animal lover as well. Cats, dogs, anything with feathers, fur or gills is fine with me. All our pets came from the pound and birds from a filthy garage sale. I loved them all and miss them but we have to travel to see the Grand kids and can't have it both ways. Still have one bird left. My son takes care of him when we are away.

I, too, love all animals, and had cats when I was a child. Now, my home is a dog's world. I live in a sort of a rural area just outside of the City Limits and it's DARK out here at night! A cougar has been hanging around for several years and at one point was seen during the day time about 50 feet away from my side fence, so I don't go outside at night time, nor do I let my dog out after dark.

I rely so much on my dog to be my ears late at night. When a critter (and hopefully NEVER a human) comes sneaking around the outside of the house, Trav begins to bark and lays down next to my side while facing the window. He's an alert dog, guard dog and my protector. I really wouldn't feel safe and secure living alone.

One more thing - Because of my hearing disability, I have a tendency to isolate myself from the public and only associate with a few friends. I know it isn't mentally healthy, so I try to get out with Trav and walk him uptown. (Being in public with Trav forces me to interact with people) He is very unique looking and attracts people who ask questions about him.. which are easy to answer, because it's usually the same questions and I can sort of read lips. Little kids want to pet him and Trav is fine with it. He's extremely sociable on leash and is so very, very gentle with children and even toddlers. AND, he is not a face licker, but he does carefully sniff faces, and his beard tickles..

As long as possible, my life will always include a dog or two.

Seabreeze, your dog is beautiful..

I'm a big dog lover, too, Callie. In the past, I've always had at least two labrador retrievers. Now I have a sweet American Staffordshire Terrier/pit bull and she is the light of my life. I don't know what I'll do without her. She is 70 pounds of love and affection, even though she was abused in the place she previously lived. She likes to sleep on the couch on her back with her feet in the air and she's SO cute when she does that that I can't resist giving her a tummy rub, no matter what I'm doing! Yes, she's spoiled, but she totally deserves it. Some people think she's scary looking, but she is truly just a big mush.

I'm a dog person but I like cats too. I have both, and have had dogs and cats throughout my life. Right now I have a Norwegian Forest cat and a Pit Bull that was a rescue dog, and like Butterfly's Pit Bull is full of love and affection. A sweet addition to our family.

I like both. Have one dog and two cats. However, the cats are really independent and insist upon living outside sun, rain, whatever. Of course my dog thinks he will melt in the rain and has to stay inside. My dog, Dude, is my BFF though. Guess after all I am partial to dogs. After all, Dude takes the time to listen to my joys and woes. LOL

Where to start? we have had so many. Here's some of the furr babies we have or have had...............

Elliot. 16 years old. male, peek-a-poo.
Rescued from a bug infested kennel in Florida. Was starving, skinny, covered in bugs, had heartworms and was eating all bugs due to starvation. He is sweet and lovable, but neurotic. he constantly thinks he's covered in bugs and rolls, and scratches all the time. will remain with us. May 18 2016... I think Elliot is starting to shut down. Seems to be having small strokes and is disoriented. Holding back the tears. May 23rd 2016 over the rainbow bridge

Toby Tyler. Aprox 14 yearsold. male, gold shih-tzu.
Rescued from a kill shelter in Ar on the day he was to be put down. Was left tied to a rental trailer when the people, (term used lightly), moved. Was discovered there a week later, when a propane company came to remove a tank. has lost sight in one eye, but has adapted very well. scared of thunder and gunshots. A sweety. could be adopted to the right person, but will probably live his remaining time with us.

Butters.aprox 10-12 years old. male, white Shih-tzu.
Rescued from a kill shelter in Ar also on his death day. Was beaten and left for dead inside a rental home when shit heads moved out. Was discovered a week later by house painter hired by out of town landlord to prep house. He now has a permanent stiffness to his rib cage and cannot turn to his body to one side. He also suffers seizures and must take medication daily. His first week with us started badly. he went head to head with a copperhead snake. got him just above his eye. he recovered, but will forever have a slightly lazy eye.He has shown remarkable improvements and is now an active member of the clan. will remain with us.

Toto. 9 years old. male, Malti-poo.
Rescue, but not abused. Was given up by student who could no longer keep him. Was left alone alot. However, he is smart and good natured. doesn't like to be pulled or pushed, but, loves to ride in a car. he has now gone blind, but, we love him still.

Noopdoggy. 17 years old. male, akc poodle.
Not a rescue. this is now our oldest baby. he's the alpha male of the bunch. grumpy like his owner. :sentimental:
passed March 5,2014 one day shy of his 18th birthday. :love_heart:

Patty Cake. 1 1/2 years old. female, akc poodle.
Not a rescue. Got her for the wife to help her grief when we lost our Katie 2 years before. Was poisoned and died way too soon.

Katie was Noops sister. we got her 1 year after Noop. Sadly, she suffered a seizure and broke her spine. she was in immense pain. I held her in
my arms as she took her last breath at the vets. 11/11/09. She is buried in a small plot along side my other original pound pup Jane.

Jane...A great dog who rode on my motorcycle and loved to chase squirrels and lived to be 19 years old. She has a beautiful view of the rolling
hills below our Ozark home, with a large cement dog to watch over them and surrounded by solar lights so they'll never be in the dark.

George. 9 years old. male, Austrian greyhound.
Was dumped on our country road one winter. Found him shivering and starving and near death. Someone had bobbed his tail so short. nothing
left but a slight bump on his butt. He loves to run, (of course) and bark at the mailman. We just adopted him out to a couple with land to run on. (and a mailman to bark at)

Heidi. Unknown age.(12-14) totally blind. female poodle.
Was dumped during tropical storm Debby. was found in a drain ditch. half drowned, starving, hair matted, near death. Saved from the needle, one
day before time. Has now gotten used to our house and yard. sleeps through the night now, and rarely bumps into things.Lung cancer took her in 2016

Meishka. 8 year old female Pomeranian.
Was hit by a car and had no treatment for 5 months. during that time, she could not use her hind legs, just dragged them, and her tail was
bent to one side. covered in fleas. Took her to vet and removed her
damaged tail and discovers she had a broken pelvis and broken ribs. She was treated and has healed and is a happy baby once again. In Oct 2014 had some sort of stroke left her unable to use her front legs. Update... May 2015 Just about to give up and put her down and suddenly she starts to walk again. Vet's are baffled by this miracle.

Roxie. A 5 year old Pomeranian who was also rescued from breeding the same breeding mill we acquired Meishka from. A wild and happy little spirit.

Lucy. A chocolate poodle who was aquired when wife first spotted little green eyes and a red nose peering out at her from under a women's arm.
Brought her home and Roxie has become her surrogate mother. now, 3 years old.

Daisy.Another abandoned one who fell into our hands.
A 3 year old registered poodle that has trust issues. however, less than a week into having her, we are able to get her to trust us. all that's left is to break her of the habit on growling at any other dog who comes hear us. she must learn that this is a huge family. found her a new home Jan. 2015

Then there was Judy.9/10 years old female pekineses.
This one hurts the most. I drove about 270 miles to get her from an illegal Amish puppy mill. my little puppy mill rescue, had spent her whole life in a cage.when I got her,she didn't know what grass was, having never felt it under her feet. I called her my "bump and go", because having been in a cage, she had no sense of distance. before, she could only go 2 feet then hit a cage wall. Now, she would walk across a room till she hit the wall,
then, turn and go another direction till she hit another wall. She had multiple problems from the get go. first, had to have some of her boobs removed, then she went blind in one eye and it eventually collapsed into her head, so I had to have it removed also. She had heart problems, then cushings disease, then finally a cancer tumor that slowly enveloped her whole body. All this time, she never once cried in pain. It finally reached the point where she couldn't eat or sleep and was having trouble breathing. I held her too, in my arms as she took the needle and her last breath. She is buried by the side of the house in Florida and I planted a lovely rose tree there. along with some solar lights to keep the dark at bay.

There is 1 way to find out if you are a cat lover. If when you go to the great beyond, and your dearest relatives keep an urn of your ashes next to them. If you know there's kitty litter mixed in with your ashes, you're a cat lover.
