I do damily research for folks, both historical and familial. When doing some work on my tree years ago, I discovered that I was a direct decendent of a Salem witch.
Her name was Sarah Osbourne and she married Robert Prince (1) and then Robert Osbourne (2). She had 3 boys with Prince and no children with Osbourne. After Prince died, she married Osbourne and he died and left her alone to raise the boys and carry on a large productive farm. She had the house left to her from 1 and she was to divide it equally between the boys which she refused to do.
Turns out she was accused of being a witch. She was arrested, goaled in chains. and there she died almost a year later. She never went to trial or was punished in any other way.
Fast forward 250 ish years and you will find me dating a young man. We were very happy but his mother (the real witch in this story) was not. Long story short, after 18 months I went to live south. Turns out his mother was the direct decendent of Ann Putnam, one of the children who accused the witches.
