Are You a Father?

As usual, got cards and emails from all 4 of them (58, 58, 56, & 55) plus my step daughter who is 46. We don't see each other very much, but we are always there when needed.
It looks like you had your hands full with little ones at one time!

No, it was boy/girl twins, then another boy, then another boy. And finally I figured out what was causing that!!!

Sadly, not a father. I’m in the infertile 19% of the population, those invisibles that no one talks about. Everyone here obviously had a father, however, and if they are still around and contributed anything positive to your life, cherish them. If not, visit them in your memories, for which I am thankful. They are a rich collection…

We don't bother with things like this - you don't need a special day to tell people you love them.
We did have a Zoom call with younger daughter and OH, but that was quite coincidental. She's coming to visit next week and it was just to make arrangements.
I think it's great that you don't need a special day to remind your kids to think about you. Unfortunately many fathers do.

Being a Father - or Mother - is absolutely one of the most challenging roles we can play - assuming of course that we want to play the role and care. As the father of 4 adult kids (58, 58, 57, 55) and the step dad of one adult daughter (46), I have seen more highs and lows than you all might believe.

Those early years were so wonderful, but around age 15, its like "what the heck happened to them". And then you go thru some often difficult times, and one day you turn around and they are full grown adults. But at least for my wife and me, having a kid - be they 5 or 50 - is often a 24 hour and 365 day job.
