Are you a gamblin' man (woman)?

My ex was a gambling addict, so I'm somewhat biased. I like winning at gambling, but losing is way too much grief for me. So, I don't gamble. Are you into casinos, lotteries, football pools? Maybe even a Vegas rat?

No..I never gamble with money. Co-incidentally like your ex Fuzzy.. my ex was a gambler.. it killed our marriage...

I have gambled in the past on silly things like a couple pounds on the lottery, or a few bob in the slot machines... but never any serious gambling and never ever more than I could afford to lose..

All that said, I'm a gambler on life.. but not with money

Used to shoot a little pool and play penny ante poker for money back when I was a pup in the Army but that's about it.....never have been in a casino and there's two within five miles of me.

Edit: We do purchase a couple of lotto tickets weekly but I never looked at that as gambling.....with the odds of winning so high I see that more as a donation.

My dad was a gambler. He never gambled more than he could afford to lose. He was a high stakes guy, a high roller. He was given free junkets around the world, which my mother, a non gambler, loved. I also got to partake in many of these trips! After he retired, he vowed not to go to Vegas again. My mother was working on changing that but he had to ruin it by dying soon after retirement. He retired at 62, died 65. His bookie's name was Louie, a guy with the Staten Island Mob.

as a little kid, I remember shooting craps with him for my allowance, and sometimes I lost everything, other times made out BIG!

For fun, I put a few bucks on a horse during the Kentucky Derby and if I go to a casino, I will play Roulette and Black Jack, but will quit once I have lost $100. A $100 doesn’t last long in a casino playing those two games, if you aren’t winning.

When we go to Vegas, I set a limit (usually $15-20 a day) to play slots. Sometimes, I finish a little ahead, but usually it's gone quickly. I rack it up to " cost of entertainment". If I wanted to save time, I could just hand it to the first employee I see and be done with it.

Lottery? I buy a ticket for three months at a time. One only and it's the same one I've been playing since the first state lottery (sometime in the 80's).....birthday dates. I'm afraid to stop playing that number. First time I do, it'll win...just watch and see.

I used to be a heavy smoker, and I'm a recovered alcoholic, so I understand at least two addictions, and I'm probably capable of understanding things like opioids and heroin because of that. But gambling as an addiction, and I've known at least a couple of addicted gamblers, is something I can't wrap my mind around. Even causal gambling is something that is of no interest to me. I've been to Vegas and played poker with the guys I work with. It was what I might consider kind of "cute" entertainment, but no draw other than just another way to spend my money. The biggest thrill about Vegas (but this was years ago), were the 49 cent breakfasts that people, including myself would stand in long lines for. I'm sure they lost money on those, but it was a way to keep people interested in Vegas. Today, there are enough addicted "high rollers" that they don't need to feed you to keep you there.

We go to Vegas once a year. We take a set budget and have never gone beyond what we brought for gambling. Sometimes we win, if we double our money, we quit gambling and take it home with us, it does happen! Other times we lose our budgeted amount. Many times, when we have a run of bad luck we quit before we lose all of our budgeted cash. We enjoy playing blackjack and craps. We also enjoy many of the good restaurants and entertainment especially some of the entertainment available for free in the bars on the strip.

We never gamble anywhere other than in Vegas.

We spent our honeymoon in Las Vegas and have enjoyed it ever since. That was many years ago...

Gambling once or twice a week, eating out, spa & comps are part of our days out at a casino. At Palms tomorrow 1/2 price for a meal at a restaurant & $60.00 free play helps with enjoying a time out together. Of course winning boosts the enjoyment, except when over $1200.00 that then becomes federally taxable. So far this year were ahead except for the taxables that will come into play next year when filing federal taxes.

We could sit at home hoarding money buy why would we? We planned for a retirement that could be enjoyed.:)

Pre health problems we went to Vegas a couple of times per year. Always had a great time, win or lose. Great food, drink and shows, much of it free if you know how to work the system. We usually co-ordinated a secondary vacation with it - Palm Springs, Phoenix, etc.

So, I’ll admit it, the answer is yes, I’m a gambler. Never gamble more than you can afford to lose.

The local casinos are nothing special so we rarely go there.

We've gone to the local casino's for many years, and Las Vegas every 2 or 3 years. We budget our playing and if we lose a set amount, we stop. In an average year, we can spend 15 or 20 days at the casino for about the same amount of money we would spend on a 3 or 4 day cruise....so, from an "entertainment" perspective, the casino's give us a lot more fun.

Love to gamble, but not obsessed with winning.
I sometimes spend hours at a roulette wheel. Not looking for a pattern because the odds do not produce a pattern on the wheel.
I look at mitigating risks, players approach (is it a'shot in the dark', methodical, etc.) I have an approach that doesn't always mean a 'win', but moving the odds based on the balance of numbers, placement of numbers on the wheel, regulating 'per number' spend, etc.
Spend no more than 100 per spin. For the most part, I do win, not much sometimes, but I do win most times. I'll know how the session will go in a couple of spins.
Played at almost all casinos in Vegas, Atlantic City, Cincinnati, Massachusetts....bucket list to play is the real Monte Carlo in Monaco. Mainly not looking to win, but to see if rich people play like everyday folks in their strategies.

We buy lottery tickets because if you don't play you can't win. Sometimes we get enough to pay for the next tickets. When I go to the track, I go with a set limit & if I loose that I'm done. Most times I will make a few buck, but not much. Not really familiar with any games at the casino.
Lottery tickets are the worse form of gambling. The odds are the lowest out of any gambling out there. Plus, notice states are reducing the amount of winners? Why? Because they need more money. Once they hooked 'some' people, they can manipulate the odds drastically.

Yes, I am, so I stay away from the casinos these days. I only shot craps or played some Black Jack. All other games are a waste since the odds are all in the house's favor.
