I have now had cataract surgery and my left shoulder replaced. And at the end of july go for my right shoulder replacement. What all have you done and how is it working?

I have not had any joint replacements, but the osteoarthritis in my left shoulder is a constant plague, that has me looking for a solution.

@Muskrat, if you could share a bit about your shoulder problems I'd be much interested.

I sure could. Because of arthritis i had a reverse total shoulder done first week in march. I am totally thrilled with it. I picked a surgeon that does tons of shoulders , young enough to have current technique and told myself if there were problems it was not because of lack of skill. This doctor does not do PT after unless there is not enough progress. My shoulder is pain free.

I like how that sounds, I want that! I would like to ask: how bad does a shoulder have to be, before it becomes a candidate for replacement?

My health plan is an HMO, but I have money...

Last Fall, I got tired of teeth problems, so I opted to have the remaining teeth pulled, and got full dentures. After a few weeks of the gums healing, I got the permanent dentures and they are doing fine. Then, a couple of months ago, I had cataract surgery, and now my "distant" vision if real good, and I just need to keep some cheap reading glasses handy for "close up" work. Next, maybe this Winter, I may need to consider surgery on my left hip. Getting old has its problems.

@Nathan I think that is somewhat up to the physician. Pain is what usually gets a person surgery…supported by imaging that shows a worn out joint. I did not have so much pain…but my range of motion was really going south. I was bone on bone. Surgical report says i had a torn rotator cuff and a shredded biceps ?!?! But really it was the joint was toast.
