Are you ever bored?

Yes, I get bored sometimes, but those are also days when I'm depressed so it's hard to get motivated to do anything. If I could get motivated to do stuff I would not be bored, but the depression will block that.

Have you tried listening to Podcasts or music? Watch TED Talks on YouTube? There's much more to do than just TV and reading if you have the Internet.

This is why I like to take classes. They are a way to keep my brain working and growing new connections AND they help with boredom too.

Many free, quality classes online here: https://www.coursera.org/courses?query=free

Not really. I have an active imagination. I engage in multiple arts and crafts so having hobbies really does help me avoid boredom. I love to get out and do my own thing on days off so I'm good with that too.

Is there anything you can use/do to relieve your soreness so you can fully engage in life the way you want to? This might be your best solution because you don't sound truly bored to me, just unable to do what you want to because of pain.

It happens but it tends to be infrequent. I take it as a temporary challenge to overcome, like a mild case of heartburn but more easily relieved.

Often I can move to one of many things that "really need doing" until I accomplish enough and/or just sitting on my butt watching YouTube looks attractive as an alternative (to e.g. dusting, lawn edging, climbing ladders to clean out rain gutters). If worst comes to worst, being retired, I can always take a nap.

I watch the news and I'm constantly made aware of all the hardship and cruelty in the world, then I tell myself, "OK, so it hurts to walk, you have regular pain in all your old joints, but hey, Tim, you can still laugh and joke with some very nice folk on SF."
No, I don't have time for boredom.

I have a spinal condition so for a few days after I'm active,( like mowing the lawn) I'm sore as hell. It always happens that then there's nothing good on TV, and I don't feel like reading. I get bored. When my brother retired, all he complained about was being bored. Are you bored?
Not lately.

Pain makes you lose interest in TV and reading, and even conversation. Pain makes you feel like you just don't have time for such things. And yeah, that kind of downtime is boring as hell. All you can do is wait it out. (speaking for myself)

My life is such a disorganized mess!!!

I'm forever trying to catch up on various craft projects, books, skating, cleaning (what's that????), exercise, gardening, etc. If I'm ever to a point were I can pause, I'm usually exhausted and wind up falling asleep. šŸ˜“šŸ’¤šŸ’¤šŸ’¤

It seems like I'm always running around, doing something. So, I guess I just don't have time to be bored!

  • Repetitive Sunday mass can be boring but it is easy for me to consider that a modest small weekly sacrifice to qualify for potential eternal life, focus, and ignore it.
  • Long familiar road drives can be boring like during this past weekend to and from San Francisco twice, with each 60 miles each way. Worse during winter is the monotonously familiar 220 miles each way to South Lake Tahoe for skiing.
  • Boring is standing in long checkout lines at retail stores but easy to just endure it quietly, unemotionally.
  • Really really REALLY boring šŸ˜µā€šŸ’« is being STUCK in a mass of stopped cars on a freeway without any opportunity to escape on an exit. Not knowing why, what, or how long it might be.

Yes, I get bored.

I never forget that I have most everything I could wish for - books, movies, music, chores. There's never a time I have nothing to do. But that doesn't stop me feeling bored at times. The solution? When you find out, let me know.

Sure there’s moments where I’m sometimes a tad bored. Waiting for a doctors appointment or stuck in traffic can be a bit boring but I really have no complaints. I’ve got plenty to do and have the ability to do it- touch wood. Having gratitude seemed to offset the boredom.

I kind of was bored yesterday on Father's Day. I had nothing to do and my kids were planning a cookout for their fathers-in-laws and me, but not until 5. I was on my way home from church when a friend of mine called and said he got a job with a company that flies company big shots around the U.S. and they just had a new Gulfstream G-650 ER delivered and was going to take it up for a ride and would I like to fly along. I told him sure, why not, as long as he had me back by 4:30.

I met him at the Harrisburg International Airport and we flew it down to Washington, D.C. and back in just over an hour and a half. Yesterday was a really nice day for flying. No turbulence or clouds. It was really hot outside, maybe over 100° on land, but it didn't have much effect on the flying. We landed in Dulles, only to check out the landing gears and how much time it took us to get the plane up to V1 for takeoff. The pilot told me that it costs about $13,000 an hour to fly that plane.

No, I never feel bored.
I can get bored from doing a particular job in the house that needs attention, but in general I don't feel bored.

Actually, typing this made me think about feeling 'trapped' as I sometimes feel if I can't do what I want because of that something needing attention.
Mmmmmmm, but that's trapped, but there again trapped can go onto boredom perhaps.

I'm in ramble mode.... ;)

Yep frequently. I'm a very active person and as soon as I either run out of things to do/read/watch whatever..or like you if I've been doing some heavy work the day before I get too sore to work the next day...I get bored very quickly..

I hate when people trot out that old tired adage.. ''Bored people are boring people''.. give me a break.. if you have an active mind and you find yourself unable to do things for whatever reason then it's boring...

Equally for people who have very little money it's often boring for them if they can't do things or go places that other people might be able to do...
