Saw my doctor on Tuesday. As usual she said "If you would lose weight". Well I have been trying to. I just got into some chocolates😃😂 but I have lost weight just not enough for her.

I got a lecture about taking so long to make an appointment with her. She didn't get mad just very stern. I didn't enjoy the visit.

I wish she had a nice bedside manner but I am Not going to get a different doctor because it takes months to get a different one. Oh well at least I have a doctor now.

So, are you happy with your doctor?
 

Yes, I'm happy with my doctor. He does not talk to me the way you described, and he listens to my input, never being dismissive.

However, my Advantage plan is a PPO through Humana. I would not have to wait months to change doctors, since I can see any primary doctor in Humana's network, and there are several in the clinic where my doctor practices.
 
I'm very happy with my doctor. He's in his 60's, close to my age, and after my annual physical he simply goes through all my results/levels and makes recommendations. I'm not on any meds for anything other than depression and he hasn't recommended anything other than Red Yeast Rice to lower my cholesterol. I never have to wait to see him, and his office is 10 minutes away. I asked him last time I saw him if he was going to retire soon and he said that as long as he enjoys what he is doing he has no plans for that. Fingers crossed!

My previous doctor was a delightful woman, in practice with her father, and she would always take the time to chat about my travel and pets. However, she would always just look at my results and say "Everything looks great. You're going to live to be 100". No specifics. The real challenge was that she had much older patients who had nothing but time and she would chat with them even longer. I typically waited an hour and a half, and I was working at the time. One day I just told her office that I loved her as a person but my time was as valuable as hers. Her assistant tried to beg me to stay but I left and never looked back.
 
I am happy with my current doctor. The doctor before her was dismissive, forgetful, and was there to process volume and get clients in and out. Then one day I called for an appointment, and he wasn't going to be in for two months. The clinic made me an appointment with a nurse practitioner, and I was absolutely thrilled just to see someone who cared even a little bit. Turns out she was really competent and thoughtful. Oh how wonderfully thoughtful and competent. I asked her if she would take me on as a permanent patient, and she said she would. I've been with her for about three years now. She takes her time and listens. Did I say she's thoughtful and competent?
 
Yes, I love my PCP and most of my other doctors. It's just my cardiologist that I'm on the fence about. I'm thinking of switching to the one my brother and sister have. My PCP now sees my sister and I together at the same time. Her idea. So far so good. She said as long as we're good with the Hippa part of it, we're ok.

I've been w/my PCP since she started , more than 10yrs ago and my sis joined her about 5yrs ago.
 
Ever since mine chewed me out for an hour and 15 min that one day over crap that happened before he even met me and for stuff he didn't have right in his file...no.

Been mad at him ever since. I go to my 6 mo appts and the rest of the time to urgent care or the ER.
 
i had 2 doctors, both female that were younger than me and i loved them. Both retired. Now i have 3 doctors, 2 male (one looks to be about 12) and 1 female but i have no confidence in any of them. Not going to change, too old to bother plus ifi have to go to hospital ill get new ones then!
 
Yes, a decade ago I wasn't happy with my doctor so I made an appointment at large local clinic. I got to see a doctor who had recently arrived from England. My issue at the time was skin condition related to an occupational hazard, a history of tick bites, she looked at my legs and said let's hit it with a hammer she prescribed antibiotics and steroids. It cleared quickly and effectively! I have followed her through two job changes, she's a keeper, a great doctor and a lovely person. Here's to you Dr Lisa!
 
I don’t really expect much from my PCP.

She is a cross between a lifestyle coach and drug dealer.

I manage my own health care by checking and double checking everything that she recommends.

She gets annoyed with me at times because I decline many of the trendy and expensive prescriptions, standard tests and routine referrals to various specialists.

As far as diet and exercise, she is never satisfied while I’m more than content with progress over perfection. 😉🤭😂
 
No issues with my doc, she took over my previous doc who retired and sold his business. Here in Ontario there is a shortage of family doctors and if you got one, keep them. I only see her once a year, unless I have an ailment that requires me to make a special visit.

40 years ago, my first doctor retired, so I started a search for a replacement looking for another who was as good as the first. I found one, but a year later, he retired. So I had to keep looking. The guy I finally settled on was older than me by quite a few years, and before I committed, I asked him if he was planning on retiring. He answered with a glib, "It has never even crossed my mind." But a couple of years later, he retired.

I finally settled on a young doctor, younger than me. I don't know if he was typical of doctors fresh out of school, but he impressed me. He was smart, and often surprised me with his technical knowledge and understanding. He eventually left my small town. I heard he had a fight with the hospital administrator.

I had a harder time finding a doctor who I could live with in the more densely populated areas, as all the Clinic Jumpers ones seemed to be
the only ones accepting new patients. Here in this rural area it appears to be more stable and at least when a one is retiring they do
try to fill it with someone they know will treat their patients as they would before they go. A major benefit to living in a rural area. So if
one feels they are not going to like the replacement, you get a chance to scout around beforehand. Unless of course your doc dies
or becomes ill suddenly.
 
I am not happy with our doctor clinic we have been going to since the late 90's. All of a sudden after many doctors, nurse practitioners leaving, the latest doctor said he could not help my husband, who has some disability problems, but just needed a doctor for some medical problems. We were upset about this and now looking for a new doctor. There seems to be a shortage of doctors but we have a couple that did say they would accept him.
 
No, he has misdiagnosed me twice. He is too busy “being important” on the board of directors at our local hospital.

I do, however, really like the physicians assistant. He does continuing education and keeps up with everything a doctor should keep up on. I am always sure to ask for him when it’s time for my check ups or I need to go in in between checkups, which is rare.
 
Love my doc. She’s personable, easy to talk to, and listens. I research everything so if I have a health issue of some sort, I research it thoroughly before the appointment so I can talk intelligently and ask appropriate questions.

I don’t self-diagnose, but mostly I have an idea of what it could be based on my research. Rather than being dismissive or resentful of the fact that I use “Dr Google,” she appreciates my efforts and that I have some foundational knowledge.

She went on maternity leave shortly before Christmas and won’t be back till April. I’ve been crossing my fingers that I don’t need a doctor til after she gets back!
