Each and every day a gazillion inhabitants of this earth utter the sentence, “I should have known better!” The vast majority of them are those who ignore their judgemental tendencies and suffer unpleasant consequences because of it. It is unwise, therefore, to pretend that eliminating our judgemental inclinations is a good thing. Sometimes our prejudices are unfair but mostly they keep us safe. I agree that we should govern our prejudices in an effort to minimize making incorrect judgments but making mistakes is also part of being human.

There is truth in what you said. I was thinking more about prejudices and biases when I said I am working to eliminate being judgemental..I agree we have to ' judge' situations that could harm us. Some mistakes could be very harmful.
 
I try not to be judgmental, but it's tough sometimes when people of certain ethnicities reinforce their stereotypes. I will never go back to that T-Mobile store again. I only went there because we needed a new phone the other day and couldn't wait for shipping, and they didn't have a pick-up-at-store option on the website checkout. I could have gone to BestBuy, but they were a bit more expensive for the same phone — like $20. Next time, I'll pay the extra money.

I can also be judgmental when it comes to people with tattoos and piercings. I just don't like to look at them and don't understand why people intentionally make themselves look hideous. I just don't get it.

I understand why they do it .... but if I tell you people will be judgemental about my opinion and call me "judgemental". :censored:
 
Are you judgmental? No, I categorize people by their differences and make comments about them accordingly. Judgemental? No, not me. 🙏
 
Of course I am judgemental and very much so. I make judgements about everything from how the soup I made tastes, what road to take, whether someone needs help, etc. Whether you admit it or not, everyone makes judgements, even if it is to hold back further judgement. As @mellowyellow said, "you can't stop being judgemental."
