Are you still sending out vast quantities of Christmas cards?

Like using cards instead of cash, I used to send out piles of Xmas cards. Some to people I haven't seen in decades; but I got one from them, so.... Then Xmas cards are, well, Christian. Not everybody is Christian. And how do you know. So I went to the " Happy Holidays" theme. Then I thought why in the hell am I doing this? Why send a card to somebody I wouldn't recognize on the street?

Sent out about 50 cards last year because we had moved to Hawaii and wanted to give everyone our new address. I have been trading Christmas cards with 2 fellas that I worked with way back when. What's sad is when you don't get a response, and you know it's not good. Got one note last year from one of the wives that my long time pal had Parkinson's.

Now that I'm alone this year I may not send any. Or I may send everybody one. I know I still enjoy getting them so I should send them too.

I send some but have shortened my list the last few years. It's part of a ritual, I guess.

I send them every year but many have died, too. I was just thinking that maybe some of us here could send each other Christmas cards if we trust each other enough that is. I will exchange addresses with anyone here who wants to send a card. :)

I do not send many out anymore. Years ago I was on Woman's Day Forum and we did a Christmas Card Exchange. I must have gotten 75 cards and sent that many too. I really enjoyed the ones that added a personal note to their card (I always did that too) and then others just signed their name. On a smaller forum we added our favorite Christmas recipe in the card. That was fun!

I send out less than 20. Mostly "funny" cards.....ok, they are usually pretty "rude" if I'm being honest. Then I get a few for the relatives who wouldn't appreciate the funny ones. One of my relatives said she has a collection of at least 15 of my cards from past years that she packs away every year and gets back out to laugh at every year.

It's been so long ago since I have sent cards, I don't remember the last time I did or why I stopped.

Haven't in years and I can't even remember the last time I got one.

I'm beginning to think that, lately, it's more of a chore than a genuine huggy-feely sort of thing.

When I was little I remember my grandmother setting up a card table in the living room right after Thanksgiving, that was her Christmas card station! My grandmother would spend several weeks updating addresses, writing personal notes in each card before sealing them with a sticker and sending them off to the Post Office. As the Christmas cards came in from friends and family she would pin them to ribbons around the archway between the living room and dining room on both sides, some years the "haul" would be so great that ribbons went up around other doors in both rooms.

That was then, this is now!

I don't send any Christmas cards.

I receive two, one from my accountant that goes into the trash and one from a dear friend that goes up next to the manger.

Times change.

Most of the people I used to send cards to passed away. They were my mom's generation. I send one to my aunt-in-law because she sends me one. That's it.

I have been reducing every year. I wonder if I waited to receive one before I sent that person one if I would receive any? Last year I sent out around 35. With postage being so expensive it is fading away.
