Article on pandemic stress

I know we've all read quite enough about the pandemic already, but just in case it is useful to someone, here is an article pointing out the likely affects of the pandemic lockdown on stress levels:

https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2020...-of-the-covid-19-pandemic-that-were-ignoring/

Quote:
  • With some 2.6 billion people around the world in some kind of lockdown, we are conducting arguably the largest psychological experiment ever;

  • This will result in a secondary epidemic of burnouts and stress-related absenteeism in the latter half of 2020;

  • Taking action now can mitigate the toxic effects of COVID-19 lockdowns.

Hopefully everyone knows most quizzes, tests, etc. on the web are mostly just for fun, and not to be taken too seriously.. but there are exceptions that are professionally-designed. (I thought I had my results on desktop, hope I didn't accidentally delete it!)

"The Big 5" covers characteristics that can range from one extreme to the other- characteristics that influence nearly everything in a person's everyday life. I was a little surprised to find the characteristic that most influences me was almost off the charts- I'm not a "reactor," it takes something very extreme for me to become even slightly rattled, bothered, or upset, regardless of the topic or situation. My father was the same way, and so is one of my kids.

So, I guess it's not too surprising that I'm not really affected at all by being "housebound."

I think most people would find being deathly ill with covid to be a helluva lot more stressful than lockdown.

Lockdown is stressful and frustrating, but nowhere near as bad as drowning in your own lung secretions while you struggle to draw breath. I'll take lockdown any day.

Maybe so, unless of course the numbers dying from causes other than this virus eventually exceeds the numbers killed by it, as some experts suggest may happen, say from the ensuing poverty in an impoverished world if the lockdown goes on too long.

I'd guess going out of ones mind isn't the pleasantest end imaginable either, and death of any kind ain't goin to be pretty I'd say!
