You understand how it is when you are in the military for so many years. You build friendships that last a lifetime and distance cannot take away from it. I feel that since I am alone and have the time, what better way to use that time than to support those people around me that need support the most. I made a lot of friends, not best friends, but people that I liked and we got along really well for many different reasons. This man that has brain cancer I especially feel regretful for him because he was to retire this spring and his youngest daughter was getting married in June. I had already received a "keep the date" card from the his daughter. This family must be hurting really badly and if I can do anything and I mean anything to ease their pain even 1%, I am willing to do it. Him asking me to give a eulogy, I felt was an honor and a privilege to do this for such a really decent person. You are a good man and I am proud of you for the way you are supporting your old friends during the rough times in their lives.
