ATL Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport is the Busiest Airport in the World

As a pilot and landing in Atlanta (ATL), it’s get in line and wait for a runway to be clear. When departing, it’s wait in line and hope to be less than number 5 for takeoff. If we have a foggy morning, we could be as late as 20-30 minutes late just leaving the airport.

Average is 15 minutes late arriving or leaving, but the later your departure time is, the later you will be behind. SEA-TAC and PHI are usually on time most of the time. Planes are late most of the time due to late departures.

I always preferred MIA, LAX and DTW. I could usually count on leaving on time. Dallas (DFW) is another airport you shouldn’t count on being on time.
