Atlanta grocery store cashier killed, after argument with customer over face masks

What a mess. People are fully vaccinated now so this shouldn't even be an issue and if it is this guy should shop somewhere where it's not even a question.

Its just not worth a life to have employees enforce a mask policy. A sign at the door stating the business's policy is all that's needed. If customers refuse to wear a mask, let it go. This is getting crazy. 😄
Exactly, Becky. The manager should never have given this responsibility to the employees. If he/she wants it enforced then they should be the enforcer, not the Cashier. Furthermore, this manager put himself in a legal bind and probably the store's owner as well. I doubt if enforcing the mask rule is listed in the Cashier's job description. The fact that the shooter went to his car to obtain his weapon probably makes this a 1st degree homicide case. I know it would in my state. This is a very sad case that should never have happened.

Another day...another shooting. It's getting ridiculous. People stressing out over wearing masks is making it difficult to leave the house without constantly looking over the shoulder. We're hoping to fly to Las Vegas this Fall, but if people keep going nuts on the airplanes, that trip may have to be delayed.

After reading the article, my mind went to wondering if the man had some underlying mental health issues, and was triggered by this?
While more and more places are making masks optional, there are still some places that seem to require them. I mean, it can be a pain for us, the customer, but I still carry one with me when out. At my grocery store, all employees are still required to mask up.

I'll never understand why anyone minded the masks, even if it was uncomfortable for some people they didn't have to keep it on very long. I've grown to like my mask. It's not required anywhere around here now, but I wear mine to places like the supermarket where I know there will be lots of people touching lots of things. I don't think I'm ever again going to be happy at a salad bar where people are sneezing on the food.
