Aunt Keeps Putting Me Off

A few weeks ago, I happened to mention to one of my aunts in church that I was collecting the "America the Beautiful" quarters. She said she has like a million quarters (probably exaggerating) if I ever wanted to look through them. I have since mentioned it to her several times and she always says, "Not right now." Makes me wonder why she even mentioned it if she didn't want me to look through them, or what her reasons are for putting me off. It isn't because she's afraid of COVID since she open her home for Bible study every week.

Got to chuckle at this, my mom & dad used to keep loose
change in an old pressure cooker, heavy as hell....they would
do a little brag about the coins occaisionly, well they got
most of those coins from me, my two brothers, and others
in the fammly as gifts...lots were foriegn coins, some canada
some silver dollars etc....once my older brother asked about
them, and was informed they were taken to the bank and
turned in, which means they only got face value for everything....ah well.....:(

Maybe ... after mentioning it, she changed her mind. I'd either ask her about it or, if she's not answering, just skip it.

I don't buy into being put off by anyone.

I can't stand empty words. If someone extends an offer to someone, keep your word or keep your mouth shut.

I'd move on, Deb.

Deb, does she perhaps think the coins you are looking for might have some value other than face value? Maybe she wants to have a look herself first.
The aunt may think they have some higher face value, but from what I see on line they are way too common to be worth anything other than 25 cents. And I agree with the other posters - just let it go.

If I have to ask someone about something more than twice, then I feel I'm begging which I don't want to do. If you've asked her several times already maybe it is time to just let it go as @Aunt Bea suggested. She may have reconsidered due to the reasons others have stated here but the courteous thing to do would be to tell you that.

Pretty sure that means 'not right now'

Several possible reasons for 'not right now'
Not right now, I've got diarrhea
Not right now, I've got a boyfriend coming over
Not right now, or any time, really, I wish I hadn't mentioned it

Or

Like the quarters, take those words for face value

Not.....freaking......right.....now

`Give it a rest for now, In the future ask again. If you get a similar answer, let it go, and forget about it. Who knows what's going on with your aunt. Just don't let the coins become a "thing" between you two.
