Automated Public Restrooms

I've sometimes joked,"Vote for Mr Dave to become your next Emperor of the Universe and my first public decree will be for all cities to install lots of free public restrooms, outdoor drinking fountains, and trash containers. Also along major Interstate highways at rest stops." The current pathetic situation is a reflection of how useless much of our government politicians have become. Women are especially affected.

San Francisco that has had paid restrooms for a few years is now joining Los Angeles with automated public restrooms that began in Paris. In SF unfortunately those city personnel maintained units were often used by junkies, graffiti paint cretins, and used by homeless that closed the doors for overnight lodging once inside. The thing with these automated products is their is an automated cleaning cycle spraying cleaning water about, and the door automatically opens after a settable time. Thus will deter homeless and junkies that would become wet and or exposed.

We need clean public drinking fountains in our parks too that in the past, restaurants have obviously not wanted. Also in this era of human pig attitudes, many many more public trash cans that are actually maintained by the government. Here in the rich city of San Jose, the only public trash containers are at bus stops and usually overflowing due to lack of regular maintenance and emptying. Reflecting a general politician attitude of not funding. The solution for those that would otherwise use them to discard large trash is to make the opening small just as is the case at most gas stations now.

Good idea! I used to hate traveling in those countries where bathrooms were very hard to find. You might say, "go behind a tree" or "go behind some building." Well, you haven't traveled in China and you haven't traveled in India. Go behind a tree or behind a building and there could be 3 or 4 other people there.

Terrible situation for women, as my late wife used to say. She said that us males were lucky.

Perhaps the election campaign slogan for Emperor of the Universe could be, “a loo for every Tom, Dick, and Harry…

They’re not quite self-cleaning, but a number of public toilets I’ve encountered in stores are self-flushing due to the many pigs who don’t flush after themselves. Sinks and paper towel dispensers are becoming increasingly automated, too… 🚽

I'd really like to answer all your posts but I use the Shades of Gray skin for the forum and cannot see what you are saying in the blue font. color . It just makes it impossible to see what you have posted. Sorry but I've just been wanting to see your posts but cannot.🤔😒🧐

We have some over here, but they don't seem to get
serviced regularly, as for drinking fountains, it is so
long since I saw one, that I can't really remember where
it was.

Mike.

And who will pay for it. Taxes in Cali are already onerous. And don’t tell me you should tax business. They just pass it along to the consumer, who is already being eaten alive by inflation.

What an eyesore in a beautiful city plaza filled with palm trees.
Couldn't they at least cut out a pretty Crescent Moon in it🌙 :giggle:(y)
It's sitting out there like a modern museum sculpture.

Smartphone. If Apple, can't help. If Android, that tells me you probably don't know how to copy and paste to the internal Android Clipboard, a most basic smartphone skill. Even if one cannot legibly see text on a display for whatever reason like text font color or too small a size, one can paste whatever has been copied to the Clipboard into a text edit app of which their are many. Google Docs is the default app but complicates the issue because it is cloud based and requires menu actions. Instead load an app like FX via Google Play.

Tersely, from any Android display one can copy text on a smartphone by depressing 2 spread fingers upon your display on text of interest, after which a popup appears for selecting what happens next. Text between the 2 fingers may be selected, moved by sliding one finger to other text, or the whole page of text can be selected with Select All. After that move to your text edit app window and perform a Paste. The result is displayed using the app default font and font size that can likely be customized. This is also useful if say one is looking at a long page with images and just wan't to read the text. By Copy Select All and then Clipboard Paste into a plain text editor, all the font formatting, text sizing, media links, and images will be gone.

Our SF could probably use a dedicated sub-forum for those of us with skills to help others come up to skill with computer and smartphone basic skills help.

Maybe don't want to be user 29. Do they provide toilet seat covers. But seriously, when you got to go, you got to and I'm sure these can be utilized by people. I wonder if they are free or coin operated.
