It has been announced that Avon products will close in Australia and New Zealand for good at the end of 2018
Avon has been sold in Australia since the 1960’s
The closure will leave about 20.000 reps out of work as well as 200 staff .

I sold Avon while recovering from having my wrist fused ,I sold it to give my self something to do.
I don’t really know how some reps made money it was more a hobby for me to keep me occupied ,but by the time you paid for the brochures ,delivery ,plastic bags it took any profit you may have made ,sure reps who sold it as a business may have made something but I certainly didn’t get much out of it taking petrol into consideration

I haven't seen an Avon rep on a regular basis for years, 20 or more. One popped up in this suburb for a short while about 5 or 6 years ago, but I rarely even saw her. She would just leave the catalogue in the letterbox.
 

My kids former babysitter,whom we have remained very close to for 40 years,started selling Avon when she was still a teenager. She worked her way up to District Sales Manager,a position she held for 25 years. Then last year,Avon suddenly let al of the D.S.M.s go. They could apply for other positions in the company,but if they were not hired,they were not allowed to accept other employment.Their only choice was to go back to selling Avon. If they accepted other employment prior to Dec. 2017,they would lose their pension. Sara chose to go back to sales,although she did accept a position with a funeral home-something she had always wanted to do. She was not going to start until December though. But she has now decided to just keep selling Avon. I`m with Kadee though-there doesn`t seem to be any way to make a living with it. But Sara was left quite comfortable by her parents and is very frugal,so she`ll be fine.
