Just back from our little jaunt in the camper. We stayed at a small town north of Edinburgh and visited Edinburgh by train and the coastal resort of Leven by bus. Please excuse the picture quality as I discovered I had the wrong setting on the camera.... however...
This is not my pic, but I just included it to show the 3 bridges across the Firth of Forth at Edinburgh. The closest bridge is the new Queensferry crossing. This replaced the middle picture, the Forth road bridge. It suffered from problems in the suspension cables. The furthest bridge is the iconic and unmistakable Forth Bridge. The railway line still uses this bridge and you get a great view as it crosses the Forth.
The bridge used to be painted regularly. A team of painters would start at one end and when they had finished, they would go back and start again. This gave rise to the expression, ' Painting the Forth bridge', meaning a job that was never ending. Now a special long lasting paint has been applied, so painting is not so frequent.

Even outside an Italian restaurant, you can't avoid a piper.
Charlotte square is a fine example of Georgian architecture in Edinburgh New town. No.7 was the home of the wealthy Lamont family and the house is open to visitors. Next door is Bute House, the official residence of Scotland's 'first minister'.
