The six cops involved in the death of Freddie Gray are being charged with various charges including second degree murder, voluntary and involuntary manslaughter, assault, negligence, etc etc. He was also illegally arrested. He made eye contact with a cop and then ran, but they found nothing on him other than a legal small knife.

WHAT!!!!!! You are kidding me! All we have been hearing all week is that nothing was going to happen today... that the investigation had to go to the prosecutors office.. Holy cow.... That's a surprise..

When the cops started leaking information via an anonymous friend of the police involved I was pretty sure they were feeling the heat just by the number and tone of interviews from investigators. The case still has to be proved and pray they are not found not guilty. I expect some "see I told you so" protests then things should calm down.

I just happened to catch it live as the state prosecutor read out everything that happened and what the various charges are. She said she had her investigators working 12-14 hour days to find out what happened.

And he didn't even do anything wrong except run when he saw cops. They had no cause to arrest him. Maybe he ran because he was afraid of being another of recent cases.

Here's the report!

BALTIMORE - Baltimore's chief prosecutor Marilyn Mosby announced Friday that Freddie Gray's death in police custody has been ruled a homicide. Mosby made the announcement during a press conference, where she also revealed the timeline of events that lead to Gray's death and the charges that have been filed against the six officers involved in his arrest.

Mosby said Gray's arrest was illegal, and therefore charges will be filed against the officers, whom she mentioned by name. Warrants have been issued for the arrest of all six police officers. Charges against them range from second-degree murder to assault.

"We have probable cause to file criminal charges," Mosby said. "Officers illegally arrested Mr. Gray."

According to Mosby, the investigation found that Gray suffered a severe neck injury when the police transport van came to a stop at Baker Street, and his injury was a result of being handcuffed, shackled and unrestrained in the back of the wagon. She said Gray requested help and indicated he couldn't breathe, but officers did not restrain him in transport nor did they request medical assistance.

Mosby said officers were "grossly negligent in getting medical help for Gray. In fact, she said one of the officers failed to restrain Gray at least five times, contrary to Baltimore Police Department policy. One of the officers faces second-degree murder charges. Warrants have been issued for the arrests of all six officers involved.

Mosby also said a knife, not switchblade, that was found clipped to Gray's pants pocket was legal.

"I have heard your call for no justice, no peace. Your peace is sincerely needed," Mosby said. The crowds that had gathered to hear what Mosby had to say cheered when she announced the findings.

:applause2: It was very good to hear Marilyn Mosby speaking on Fox News this morning, they handled the case very well and there is now some hope of this type of police behavior coming to a stop in the future across America. I admire Ms. Mosby for taking the high road and doing the right thing, especially with generations of police officers in her family. There is hope for this country, we need to just keep moving forward and try to eliminate all the government/police corruption.

Yes Jim, funny that they stopped this man for no valid reason, then illegally searched him, and I heard repeatedly how this bad man was carrying an illegal switchblade. People were actually explaining on the radio how there was a special switch on it which made it both deadly and illegal. It sickens me that they have to stoop to such lows to degrade someone in an attempt to defend themselves, and the news media runs with it.

You can see too QS that most of the charges were drug related. They really need to stop that bogus "war on drugs", and empty out some of those jail cells for real criminals, like murderers.

Yes.. and FOX news publishing his criminal record... like that has anything to do with what happened to him... THAT made me sick..

You knew it was coming. I'm more upset about the cops using their anonymous friend or family member to rationalize their actions. They're trying to say they didn't selt belt Gray in because the cops didn't want to get near him because there was a chance he could've bitten them. Huh? It's their job and probably have techniques and procedures to deal with that and other situations.

Also the Baltimore FOP wants the prosecutor recused because she took a 5,000 dollar donation from someone associated with Gray.

Even after the investigation and decision for file charges Fox news is siding with the murderers...http://www.politicususa.com/2015/05...prosecutor-declaring-war-law-enforcement.html

Fox News host Todd Starnes’ immediate reaction to the breaking news that all six officers are being chargedin the death of Freddie Gray in Baltimore was to accuse State’s Attorney Marilyn J. Mosby of declaring war on law enforcement.
This is the refrain of many people who have a hard time admitting that we have a systemic problem of racial bias within all tiers of our justice system. But the real question is why would anyone defend police officers who are not upholding the law?

These bad actors do not reflect on all law enforcement. The few bad actors stain the name of all of the hard working police in this country. For that reason, everyone should want to weed out the bad actors and hold them accountable.

The highest charge against the officers is that of second degree depraved heart murder. According to Wikipedia, depraved heart murder is also known as “depraved-indifference murder”. This “demonstrates a ‘callous disregard for human life’ and results in death.”

In what world does holding an officer/officers accountable for having a callous disregard for human life equal “declaring war”? If Starnes feels that being asked to behave lawfully is an act of war, he has other problems.
Starnes might also want to realize that the State’s Attorney is law enforcement. She is responsible for upholding the law. The State’s Attorney repeatedly said that this was not an indictment of the Baltimore Police Department, but of the six officers charged in this case.

Mosby used an independent investigation in order to determine the facts, instead of leaving it up to the police to investigate their fellow officers.

There is no excuse for turning these charges around on the prosecutor and claiming victimization by whining that being held to the law is an act of war.

The point of these charges is that everyone is expected to uphold the law, including the police. They are, in fact, supposed to be setting the standards for upholding the law.

For every bad police action getting headlines right now, the majority of police officers are trying their best to honor the public trust and keep the peace, often under trying circumstances.

Instead of defending the few bad actors, which implies an identification with their actions, it makes more sense to hold everyone accountable to the same standards. Since most police do not treat citizens with callous disregard for their life, there is no reason to view these charges as anything other than the result of an independent investigation.
The justice system will work its way through these charges just as it does for every person charged with a crime. By Starnes’ standards, law enforcement is declaring war on every person ever charged with a crime based on evidence.
Todd Starnes’ accusation is irresponsible at best. He has no evidence to suggest these charges are unwarranted, but that didn’t stop him from inflaming the situation with the sort of self-pity often seen in people of privilege when they are held accountable for their actions.

I get the impression the prosecutor charged the way she did to illicit plea bargins and testimony. When this is over I don't think all 6 will have criminal records, they might not have a job but they won't actually be prosecuted or found guilty.

They keep on harping the prosecutor should recuse herself based on relationship with Gray family attorney who contributed to campaign but yet defended the prosecutor in Missouri when many wanted him recused.

And Fox is now fronting this "anonymous" friend/family of the charged police again trying to rationalize them not seat belting in the suspect because they were in danger of being bitten by an unruly prisoner.
