Based on A True Story

When Based on a True Story in the description of a show/movie, many believe that the whole thing is true. I’m surprised at how many commenters on a movie site I follow believe everything about the show.

Law & Order used to start with Ripped From the Headlines. They acknowledge that the ideas came from actual events. This is really common.

Exactly.. they only have to have a tiny percentage of it to be factual to be able to call it ''Based on a True story''

It’s like the movie “Behind Enemy Lines.” Very little of that movie is true. Nonetheless, it’s a good movie and what is shown on the screen is all possible. I think O’Grady was flying an F-16, so I doubt if he had a navigator sitting in back of him. If anyone was sitting in back of him, it should have been a Weapons Officer. The true part is that he did get shot down over Bosnia and he was on the run trying to avoid contact with the enemy for 6 days and was eventually rescued by Marines.

I didn’t know O’Grady personally, but I did meet him. He came across as being full of himself. A real bug master.
