Be careful if you order from Walmart

Grampa Don

Yep, that's me
Yesterday I ordered a cushion for my patio chair. The web page said "Made in USA and import". I took this to mean that it was made here with imported materials. Today I got an email that said it has been shipped from Hong Kong. I'm not going to pay duties on this. I contacted Walmart chat to try and cancel. Sorry, can't do that. It's from a third party seller. I was told that I can refuse the shipment and get a refund, and there are things they can't control. So, we'll see. But, If they can't control the descriptions on their web site, that's pretty sad.

Was there no price on the item and all associated charges at the time you ordered it that they have to stick with?
There was a price and free shipping. But, I'm wondering if I will get hit with a tariff when it arrives. I'm supposed to hear from the seller within 48 hours, so we'll see what he says. I've never had to deal with tariffs before.

When anything will say …"and import” .. you can bet that the outcome will turn out this way.

They lie to get your money. It’s not just Walmart.

Your scenario should probably have included assembled with US made and imported ... .

I looked at some cozy PJ’s in Target yesterday as it’s getting chilly here overnight, $30 for a pair of Pj ( pants only )
same price for a top ….$60 for a pair of PJ

They have an Aussie flag on the tag .,but when you look they are made in Bangladesh:eek:
and they are not very good fabric , in fact as a sewer …. myself …its ~ quality is …use to dusting rags ..then bin

What I've found is that the listings will say " USA or Imported"-- which is no information at all. Just one more thing that upsets me.

What else upsets me is the "it's a third party we're not responsible". It's their website and in my view ( which carries no weight) yes they are.

Sorry that you had a less that satisfactory experience Granpa Don, and thanks for sharing. Perhaps it may help someone else.

When you order from Walmart and it has to be shipped instead of delivered from your store..........always check the tiny print underneath that says when it will be delivered. If it is coming today or tomorrow..........probably coming from their store or warehouse. If it says 3+ days check the listing and if it says it is sold and shipped by XXXXX. Then it might be coming from China or at least not from Walmart. I only buy if it is being sold and shipped by Walmart.

I think the price of the cushion will be the same as advertised. You don't pay the tariff, the seller does. Walmart has a lot of third party suppliers. I just got new tires from Walmart. The guys at the garage said to watch for the words, "sold by Walmart". That means some guy from north somewhere is using the Walmart site to sell his stuff. Walmart allows that. The sellers are suppose to abide by Walmart rules, but I'm supposed to be rich and hunky, too. I use a lot of Purell, and I bought 6 bottles from a "sold by". I got 1, but was charged for six. I never did get my money back.

Well, it's not supposed to arrive until June 5th, I'll let you know how it goes. Ebay always lets you know where an item is coming from. Walmart should too.

I purchased an instore Vizio 55" smart tv with a great sale price and later found
out the card was screwed up.

Eventually after several calls They sent me a new card. It was screwed up too.
Waldo World is in the gutter now. The TV is great!

We have changed where we buy Groceries too.

If you order the item from Walmart, online, you should get an e-mail confirming the order. If you view that e-mail, there is a way to review the order, and you can click on the details which will have a place to click on the tracking of the order. Click on that, and you can follow the order as it moves from the point of "fulfillment" to delivery to your house.
I did that and it just says it was shipped from Zhuzhou City, HN. I looked it up on Google and HN stands for Hunan. It's just north of Guangxi and Guangdong.

Here is an update. It never arrived. It's two weeks overdue, so I asked Walmart for a refund and they gave me one. The seller says it was shipped, but there's no telling where it is now, maybe in a warehouse somewhere. I checked Amazon and they are offering the exact same item from the same seller and it still says made in the USA. So, it's not just Walmart you have to be careful of.

I order from Walmart regularly and don't have any problems. I'm even surprised how fast they've become. Before I do, I research everything about the product before clicking. I'm not worried about tariffs. For me it's common sense that most things come from China these days when dealing with affordable retail products.
