A lovely snap of history, Squat!
Your words are why I miss the past so much. People had respect for one another, there was love, care, get-togethers as this one stood for something and happened regularly. Gathering in this manner actually stood for something, and people enjoyed each others company.
Few people, if any at all gulped their food down and then stood up and ran back to their jobs, because they were worried about the Jonses' making more than them, and nobody watched the clock/time.
Weekends were made for this, it was called "family time", unlike today where typical families haven't the slightest clue as what it means to get-together like this. The only thing they're worried about is personal electronic devices, texting, social media, and acting stupid.
"Please" and "thank you" were words that everyone knew and lived by back in the day, and people referred to others by name, unlike today where you're lucky if someone grunts at you, or better yet, they refer to you as "hey", "yo", or "man".
Our world today has nothing, absolutely nothing on the time reflected in this photo, and if I could, I'd transport myself back in time to finish off my days in an era where people were people, not animals.
Better times for sure? Without question.
