Betty White passes.

When her 100th birthday bash was announced, I knew that everyday was a day closer to that event, and at 99, it was not guaranteed. I wanted Betty White to make it, because she'd get to see the huge outpouring of love for her. I never met her. But from what others have said, she was witty, charming, funny, loving, and totally respected as a caring human being. Plus, she and her husband could tell one raunchy joke after another.

My best memories of Betty are from the Mary Tyler Moore show where she was responsible for some of the best laughs on a show with so many other talented people. During that time she and her husband, Allen Ludden, and Mary and her then- husband were best friends and went out together all the time. I just love to picture them all together.

I also love the story of how Betty was a guest on Password and she and the host Allen Ludden fell in love during the show.

Sometimes we think we know an actress based on the loveable characters they play only to be disappointed with the real person, but because of all her appearances on talk shows and game shows we really knew Betty White and she was even kinder and funnier in person than any part she played.
