Beverage Rants

What's with these extra small soft drink cups I see everywhere at public and private functions where beverages are served. They look like pill cups - or as I call them "one sippers". With all the hype about keeping hydrated, I'm surprised they actually have 4 oz. beverage cups. If I'm gonna drink, I prefer something like a "big gulp". I've taken to bringing my own cup to these functions which gets me a lot of "stink eye".

Another rant about beverages - at a restaurant when you get soda or iced tea. They fill the glass with ice and there about a tablespoon of actual drink in it; then as the ice melts, it really dilutes the beverage. I have requested "no ice" when I order, only to be presented with a glass half full. When I questioned the waitress, she said that it doesn't matter if there ice in the glass or not, that is the amount of soda allowed per glass. What a rip-off!

Maybe the cups are small because all us old fogeys that are attending have the traditionally weak bladders and their bathrooms cannot take the loads....

Maybe this is a positive sign that people are right sizing the servings to keep calories, carbs, etc... at a realistic serving size.

When I developed diabetes I switched to small eight ounce, or less, glasses for milk, juice, etc...

I only use a regular size glass for ice water or iced tea.
