Australia's Biggest loser has just started on our TV , one of the contestants is over 200 kg Johnee , I guess the contestants Have a through medical check prior to them starting on the show
But it's a wonder some don't have heart attacks as they appear to be right into the excersise ... As soon as they start on the show , do you have an Opinion on the show ? ..

Sure the show achieves results, however I spoke to former contestant a couple of years ago if any of the others who were on he show with him have gained weight again? and he said sadly yes! Most had gained all the weight back and more .
(he has a weekly segment on TV promoting South Aus,) he also has gained quite a bit of his original weight he had before appearing on the show.

I've never watched those Biggest Loser shows but it must be awful for those who participate and even more so if they regain that weight. How utterly demoralizing.

Having tried almost every fad diet over my lifetime (all were fails in my case). I wondered about the intimidation and humiliation the contestants are exposed to. To begin with the 200 kg (440 lb) contestant that Kadee referred to probably had back and knee problems. Any type of impact exercises at that weight would have to be detrimental to those conditions. Walking, swimming and sustained non-impact exercise such as cycling is probably what they should have been doing.

There was no mention if Johnee has any back or knee issues , his team on the show consists of his wife, brother and sister in law. They are all rather large and eat huge meals. Their trainer had to eat with them for a week prior to the show and gained 7 kg in weight ..

None of those reality shows appeal to me (give me a good old British drama) but I have of course, seen the bits that are advertised in-between other shows - I cringe at the humiliation that those people must go through and perhaps they are desperate - why did the trainer have to eat what they ate - shouldn't he/she have been setting an example by eating properly with them?
