My BIL passed away @ 87 on Friday. He had become the prime caregiver for my oldest sister (83). He had dementia, she has alzheimer's. both were residents of a nursing care center. She had become mean, but had mellowed somewhat, terrible existence @ any age. He fed a bevy of feral cats @ his former const yard, They had 1 daughter & 2 estranged adult G-sons who were our only remaining contacts, all living 2 states away. My DD had to help edit the obit for the daughter. The sister is a hoarder & her only remaining daughter will have to deal with the mess afterwards.

Me & my younger brother are all that remain out of 5 on our side. Services are Thursday, we can't attend. but have accepted the news of his passing.

Sorry to hear of the loss of your B-I-L.. sounds like a blessing for him to be gone, ..is your sister still alive?
Yes a blessing, he kept up her care as best he could. She is still alive but not doing too well. I expected her before him but at their ages & conditions either one was just living on borrowed time. Their nice home had become unlivable and boarded up. She had 3 full storage bays, a large cinder block shed, her basement /w 2 large bedrooms & the upstairs floor to ceiling full of 'stuff'. The G-sons want nothing to do with anything, so it'll be up to their single childless aunt to deal with all. I told my DD,not to get involved unless the aunt asks for help. Nobody envies the aunt.
