Our Founding Fathers wanted no part of organized religion in our government. The very first part of the 1st Amendment to our Constitution reads: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion."
Some people have no regard for the intentions of our Founding Fathers or for our Constitution and some of those people serve on the Supreme Court.

Originally meant to only restrict federal action and also only 10 of the Articles were ratified out of the 12 submitted to the States.
Kept safe in sealed cases in the Rotunda of the National Archives in Washington, D.C., a site to behold.
The most litigated are the 1st and 4th Amendments and provide interesting rulings.
