Number 7...Wolverton Mohttps://youtu.be/MELTBmk4yd8untain... I didn't realise someone else had a hit with it. I thought it was Merle KIlgore.. because he wrote it...
I did a search of the song on Youtube and apparently a lot of artists have covered it. I'm sure I heard the song when I was a kid but I do not remember it.

Well Merle wrote it about his Uncle whose actual name was Clifton Clowers... I know all this because I'm a country music Geek..lol....and I saw a show once where Merle was talking about how he came to write it..

My favorite of those is Palisades Park by Freddy Cannon. I was thinking of this song when my family and I went to Palisades Park in 1969 (everyone else was going to Woodstock, they traffic going the other way was bumper to bumper).

Mark, I think the year 1959 was the absolute best year for music!

Yep...1959 was cool, I was a kid but songs like[There Goes My Baby-The Drifters]- Poison Ivy-The Coasters- Bad Girl- The Miracles...it was cool times!!

There used to be a TV show every Friday night called, "The Hit Parade." It listed the 10 most popular songs in record sales for the prior week.

I remember Palisades Park..the song and the amusement park. My friends and I took the bus there a few times after I got old enough. Before that, my parents took me. It was such a shame when they demolished that iconic place!
