Know of someone who had a stroke less than week off some arthritis medications. Apparently anti inflammatory steroids used for severe arthritis swelling can increase the risk of blood clots 5 times. And arthritis patients in general can be upto three times more likely to get a blood clot

The articles are not new but recent but I was stunned to find out an anti inflammatory-the corticosteroids could cause blood clots. I've heard of the steroids used for strength causing issues but not the anti-inflammatories.

Just be aware or ask a doctor if you are prescribed them.

Cortico-steroids are hormones (or synthetics thereof) that are produced in the adrenal glands. They are very potent and have all kinds of crazy side effects. I would not take them except in the direst of circumstances.

Thanks for posting. I see quite a few people with severe RA and other joint issues who have corticosteroid shots on a frequent basis. I'll post the article for them.
