First light at The Duke of Portland Boathouse on Ullswater this morning. The Sun peeped over the fells and lit up the boathouse for about a minute!

Love the photo @-Oy- I really like how you have got so many tones and details in despite the lowlight.
Unless there was some way to manipulate the lighting/shading after the fact, it looks like a photo you would have to be there every day at the right time for months to catch that same lighting again.

Pro photographers do, sometimes. During his career in the Air Force, my oldest bro made a life-long friend of a guy was also in the Navy, but was loaned to the Army as a photographer, and spent 2 years in South Vietnam photographing civilian life and the environment and culture. About a half-dozen of his photos are very well known, and a couple of them won prizes.

He told my brother stories like the time he sat among a bunch of damp ferns for 3 or 4 pre-dawn hours, trying to stay alert while he waited for the very moment the sun broke over this one particular hill, so he could get at least a few good shots of some rice paddies. He wound up taking about 8 photos. One turned out perfect.

WOW, That sun was spotlighted on that wonderful 200' area of the Lake !
When I see that light line in the water I see the sun at the back of it. Amazing
Timing to be on the front side of that Sun light on the water too.

Thanks folks. Yes - some research about where and when the Sun would crest the hills. Some patience waiting for an hour or so beforehand. And a dollop of luck to be there in the right place ant the right time.

Also - there's a saying. The harder I work, the luckier I get :D
