Boeing's Starliner crew stranded on the international space station

Boeing's Starliner crew is currently stranded on the international space station trying to make repairs to their ship.

Astronauts stranded in space due to multiple issues with Boeing's Starliner — and the window for a return flight is closing

The problems are helium leaks. They launched Jun 5, ran a repair test Jun 15 with some issues still there. Earliest return date in next week.

Was supposed to be a test trip lasting less than a week but they are now at that three week mark.

"...3 hour tour..." comes to mind for some strange reason.......

Yes this is large concern and wondering if they will Boot the
Boeing people off the list of manufactures of spacecraft....
Kind goes along with all the problems the company is
haveing with regular planes.....
NASA does not want to boot Boeing. NASA wants two systems to put human beings into low earth orbit. It's more likely they will sue Boeing for specific performance under the terms of the contract. It's not like they can sign a contract with Rocket Lab and get a manned spacecraft into orbit in another year or two.

It's worth noting that Boeing was the chosen high bidder. The chosen low bidder was SpaceX which has already complete 5 or 6 manned missions for NASA.

I know this is no laughing matter but I would be shocked if there wasn't a production crew and writers already in action.

They want to figure out why those thrusters are not working properly. Unfortunately, the thrusters are on a part of the spacecraft that will separate from the crew section and burn up in the atmosphere. So, they can’t study it upon return. The only way to continue studying the balky thrusters is to keep the spacecraft at the ISS longer.

I do wonder why they are having so many problems. It’s not like thrusters on orbiting spacecraft are a new thing.
