Bogus Uber and Lyft drivers

I wouldn't feel comfortable using them even with the app because I've heard so much bad things on the news about them. Whether it's true or not, I don't know but it still leaves me hoping I don't ever need to use them.

I use Uber when traveling and never had a problem.

To get an Uber, you order (or pre-schedule) a ride with a smart phone app and get a real-time schematic on your phone showing your driver's progress toward you (almost like a Pac-Man image). Plus you're given the vehicle's description and license plate #.

Payment is handled on a CC through the app and no cash is exchanged with the driver with the possible exception of giving a cash tip instead of also handling that through the app.

The driver has your name and destination before you get into the vehicle.

Only people who've never used Uber would believe they can simply hail one like a taxi.

I don't have a smart phone for the app, so if I need a cab, car won't start or something, I'll call a taxi.

I remember an episode of See No Evil on Investigation Discovery channel where a young woman was on camera outside a bar waiting for a car, some car stopped, she got in and was murdered.
