Boise, ID just had a 6.5 earthquake

Apparently ID has been having smaller earthquakes since March 23 and now has had a 6.5. I wonder if the fault under ID and UT is getting ready to go big time. Sigh.

My wife's Sister lives in Mountain Home, ID, and we talked to them Sunday. They said they have felt minor tremors for the past couple of weeks....nothing severe, but enough to rattle the dishes, etc. They are pretty much in a straight line from the Utah quakes to this one in Cascade, ID. today. Needless to say, they are somewhat concerned.

It is concerning. First the quake in Magna, Ut, then the quake in Boise, ID. Feels like we might be the chicken in an earthquake sandwich.

I just hope these earthquakes aren't a sign of Yellowstone starting to shift....that would be catastrophic.

Yes, I agree. Before the quakes started recently ID hadn’t had one since 1983. Same time frame for Utah, I think, about 36 years or so.

I was thinking about Yellowstone also. I think it is just a matter of time before that quake hits.

Can only hope that the quakes are relieving pressure and not contributing to it.
