Boogie Woogie or Honky Tonk Piano anyone?

My mom played boogie-woogie piano for us a lot when we were kids......all the great old 40's stuff. She'd play and we'd jump around until we were all exhausted.

She and my dad had been great jitterbuggers, too, and they'd dance for us.

When she was in her 80's, she took up playing professionally and had gigs at local restaurants a couple times a week. Mostly, she'd play the old 40's standards but on request, she might break out some boogie-woogie. She kept that up til almost before she died at 95.

I played piano since I was 5 years old. My mom was the piano and organ player in our house. She taught me how to play when I was willing to learn, but it may go days before I would be willing to sit and learn. To play boogie Wookiee, you gave to be able to use your fingers very quickly.

I enjoyed playing Honky Tonky. HT can be either be fast or slow tempo. Jerry Lee Lewis used to play great Cajun Honky Tonk music.

I'm surprised that they all fit at the piano! That was some playing! I'm also surprised that more people didn't gather around.
@MrPants That young man is fantastic! I must share that video with my BFF, a professional pianist who back in the day, taught young people about his age.
He certainly can tickle the ivories can't he? And at such a young age!

When I was younger I liked Boogie woogie. It’s now not really I style I like too much. It’s too fast, too loud and too complicated for my mind to handle. I need soothing music at all times. These players sure are good though.

My friend's band plays this also.https://search.aol.com/aol/video?q=tray+dahl+%26+the+jugtime+ragband&v_t=comsearch#id=1&vid=4d2d5598510c41aa8ec4599aaaf68051&action=view

Our guitar group just started playing around with "Honey Don't" by Carl Perkins and it has a great boogie line in the chorus that I'm in the process of learning on my new bass.
