I am now reading 'The Penguin Lessons ' by Tom Michell. It looks very promising, just like 'Ring of Bright Water' by Gavin Maxwell.
Before this I read about 'Odin' by Lisa Slater - all about a great police tracker dog and his life.
These stories of animals changing human lives, making us more human, are so informative and comforting.
In general our dear pets do bring out the best in us by their quirks, charm and undemanding nature.
