'Borrowed'

Nothing

A couple of things. One was a small, inexpensive tool and the other a book, both lent to me prior to long distance moves and rediscovered years later. No chance of my locating the owners - I've tried a number of times over the years - but the fact that they didn't get returned still haunts me. It's a matter of principle.

Nothing

I’m owed a bit, here and there

Small tools

A few bucks

…worth it

Same here G. After losing a friend or two that decided the money I lent them was worth more than our friendship, I have adopted a "no money lending policy". So far it's worked great, no friends lost since 2003.

Nothing in a very long time.

There were some times when I was a young wife and mother that I’d borrow an egg or similar but I would always return a dozen, same with sugar or flour.

This was also the friendliest neighborhood I lived in...we even went on trips together. A small town in Illinois, a great place for my kids at the time.

A book. I lost it. The lender didn't care.

Years ago I lent my neighbour my entire collection of spiritual tapes I had. She had just lost her dog and was in a terrible depression and I thought they would help her. There are about 35 to 40 tapes. She gave them back to me 6 or 7 years later.
The books I lent her I never got back BUT it doesn’t stop me from lending people things if they need them.
I absolutely hate borrowing things and won’t ever ask. The thought of losing or damaging other people’s things is something I don’t handle well so don’t do it.

Same here CeeCee. If I ever did borrow anything, I always gave back more than what I took.

Neither a borrower nor a lender be,
For loan oft loses both itself and friend,
And borrowing dulls the edge of husbandry.

I took the above to heart, at a very early age. Once, a tenant lent me his VHS of Soylent Green, and then moved before I could return it. I still feel bad about that, and I believe I still have the tape, some fifteen years later. Other than that, I paid cash for everything I have, and, in the case of real estate, paid off notes in very short order. In general, if I don't have something, I either buy it, outright, or figure I don't really need it. I never lend money, ever.

Never, if I were to borrow something, I would return it in good condition as soon as possible....but I'm not really a borrower, if I need something, I just go out and buy it.

Well I guess I should fess up, I've borrowed (stolen, copied, redid.) many a guitar lick or chord from other guitarists through the years. Truth be known most guitar players I've had the pleasure of knowing and jamming with over the years were also notorious thieves.. ;) :)

How many guitar players does it take to change a light bulb?
Four... One to change the light bulb, the other three to watch it done and say, "I can do that."
