Bought myself a Himalayan Salt Lamp

I had heard a lot about them, but was never certain what their purpose was. From what I have read, the benefits are claimed to be that the lamps add negative ions to the air in the home. Supposedly removing odors, dust and allergens in the air. When used in the bedroom, they are said to improve the quality of sleep.
So, I got mine yesterday. I have a lot of allergies, and a lot of dust and pollens get into the house. Some places say there is no real benefit, but others who used them say they love it. So, will it work? Who knows. I have not had it on long enough to determine anything yet. But, if nothing else, it is pretty, and adds a nice soft light to the room if I want no other light in the room. This one only cost me $25. So we will see.
In this picture, I have it set up in my living room. But I think I will move it to the bed room. If I like the lamp, even if just as a soft, pretty light, I will buy another.

Don’t ever leave it near where a cat or dog could lick it. If they do, especially cats, they could get excess sodium which would be toxic. Look it up if you don’t believe me.

I always wanted one of those for the pretty glow. I never knew about the rest of it. I have no place to put one. Hope ou get some kind of health benefit fro it.
Same here. I was gifted one that was a wire basket, chucks of salt, and the light bulb. I had no place to put it, so I took it to work. I did save 7 of the nicely shaped salt rocks for my plant shelves.

I have no pets so that is not an issue. I did read that some where when researching it.

I have also found that using it in my bedroom is a no go. @Keesha ,mine has a dimmer switch and can be shut off, but even at dimmest. It is too much light for me. I need total dark to sleep

I have three of these lamps. I haven't noticed any particular benefits but I like them for the lovely warm glow. An air purifier might be a better choice for cleaning the air. These lamps are supposed to counteract the effects of electro-magnetism.

Thanks for the info. I have one in a wire basket with chunks of salt and a light bulb but I also have a cat. Will definitely rethink where I put the lamp as it's at floor level. Haven't experienced great benefits yet and I've had it for some time. ☺
