"Bounding down the stairs"

Oh my gosh, what a memory!
Our bedrooms were upstairs, so we kids congregated at the bottom of the stairs in an agony of anticipation while Mom cut on the lights, turned up the heat, made the coffee, etc. It seemed like it took HOURS. What is taking so long??? C'mon, c'mon, c'mon....
Then the signal to head for the living room. Oh, to feel that joy again....
