Brainless couple try to cash a fake check using a fake debit card

Maybe it's my laptop, or my hearing is going. (Or maybe it's defective recording equipment? But I watched the whole video and could hardly make out what any of them were saying, especially after they took her to the police station. All the speech was echoey and muddled. I got the general idea, the couple were brought in because she was trying to cash a bad check, but that's about all I know about it. Sorry, I tried.

This video is from the officers AXON bodycam. They are in a fairly noisy street. If there is any ambient noise filtering equipment available for your situation maybe another member will respond. Take care.

This is actually a fairly common (attempted) crime. For my sins, I watch a few of these videos from cops cameras, and this fake check thing isn't that unusual. Most of the time it seems to be people who were contacted over Facebook and persuaded to try and cash the check. Sometimes the amounts are incredible - like who tries to cash a check for $28K?

Apparently the grift is to deposit a check, and then quickly withdraw as much cash as possible before it is detected as fraud.
