So is the song "For All We Know" in this movie? I reference the more recent movie with Dame Joan Plowright "Mrs. Palfrey at the Clairmont" where she befriends the young man, played by Rupert Friend and he sings a beautiful rendition Been a while since I watched Mrs. Palfrey and though I know her character said "Brief Encounter" was her fave movie, I can't remember if the song was linked to it.

Don't know if I've ever seen that movie, but it happens to be streaming on HBO Max so I'll watch it tonight!

Love the photos. I have lovely memories of watching the old black & white movies, every Saturday afternoon with our mother. Brief Encounter was one of them. I watched it again when I was an adult.
It's a classic.
