Bringing out the human in people

Dropped by my local Dailys for a pumpkin coffee or donut or something like that for my daughter Paige. I started chatting with the gal there, to see if she could help me. When I expressed my disappointment on Paige's behalf that there was nothing pumpkin flavored yet, this sweet girl gave me a free iced latte and a HUGE bag of pumpkin spice creamers to compensate, complete with an adorable pumpkin drawing on the bag! šŸŽƒ Recounting this episode to Paige because I thought she'd find it funny, and she said, "How do you have a way of bringing out the human in all service workers?"

What a fascinating observation! It never once occurred to me that I was trying to "bring out the human" in people. I just always try to find some point of connection with pretty much everyone I meet.

I'm not trying to make this about me here, but I wanted to recount that story for context so that you understand my question.....

How do YOU bring out the human in people? I would genuinely, honestly love to know. šŸ’–

Good grief. You want to bring out the human in people?????? Have you seen some of 'em??????
Go to a Wallmart at 10:30 PM, or 3:45AM. Look around at the people there. Do you REALLY want to bring the "human" out of them. Most of 'em should be locked up. And what's worse, I shop Wallyworld at 3:45 AM, too.

I chat with most anybody within range
Drive's my wife nuts
Anyway, light discussion....about them.....opens most folks up like a flower in the sun
Yes, there are weeds, but, hey, they blossom too

I do go over the top a bit, ever once in awhile

Like that time I donned a Home Dopey apron and answered some folk's questions

Hey, they were busy

"Meeting people where they are" ...looking for non-verbal cues. My go to favorite for connecting with people is light humor or encouragement, but sometimes you can tell the person is stressed or really down and won't appreciate it. Sometimes I offer sympathy in those cases, but most of the time I try not to be a bother.
