I watch this but it winds me up too much, it entertains, shocks and intrigues me about the mentality of all involved. Small children chasing fame disturbs me most. What are their parents thinking? Fame swallows people up and is full of sacrifice, not an easy path at all.

Another aspect is the excessive amount of crying and emotion that goes on. What a manipulative weapon tears can be.

Do you enjoy the show and what are your thoughts?

I love watching talent shows. They gave us some pretty talented performers such as:
Adam Lambert

Scotty McCreery

And the best IMO: Jonathan Antoine

It's TV. Of course, there's "raw" emotions, and "who is going to win" moments. They really don't kill actors on TV. It's make believe. Pure entertainment, while you munch snacks. Of course, the BBC is famous for TV shows about 80 year old Nigel and 84 year old Bruce, madcaps as they are, driving up the "4" looking for interesting roadside vegetation. I saw that on the BBC. Which would you think brings in the larger audience?

I liked Opportunity Knocks and New Faces and such.
ooh goodness they were a very long time ago... but they were the first of their kind, so they did well... plus added to that they weren't just a platform to make the presenters and judges rich!
