A British Airways pilot has said he cannot wait to return to the US to thank medics who helped to keep him alive while he battled coronavirus for a record 243 days.

Nick Synott, 52, spent eight months in hospitals around Houston, Texas, after falling ill during a trip to the United States last March. He suffered respiratory failure and was kept alive on ventilators and a heart and lung machine as his wife, Nicki, sat at his bedside every day. Source: The Times

Glad he is OK. In England he would have had free medical care, but in the US we deal with medical insurance, so it will be interesting to see how that works out. Medical costs must have been enormous.

Hi Chet, I would also like to see a follow up of the expenses he managed to avoid, but how come he got it for free?

Since he's a pilot who presumably did a lot of international travel, he most likely had a separate health insurance policy that covered him when he was out of England.
