It is for this female. Surprised to see this, sad really. Yes, she's a girl. Imagine how hard it was for her to grow up with scorn. Shame.
 

Voices become deep because the larynx gets thick during puberty. Some people more than others. People get tall because of a growth spurt just before and during puberty. Some people more than others. Neither thing defines gender. Short men and men with high voices are still men and tall women with deep voices are still women.

Regarding the OP: I'm glad she's back home. Hopefully she learned a very valuable, life long lesson. I like that she and her wife say they will be committed to advocating for the other U.S. prisoners to be released. Brittany seems to be a very caring and gracious person from what I've seen and read so far. It seems that this is a "trial run" in the continued efforts to get Whelan back home because, after all, his alleged crime is much more serious. Still officials have been trying and we are not privileged (yet) to know all that has gone into trying to gain his release.
