What I most remember about Burt Reynolds was his relationship with Sally Field who is one if my favorite actresses. When my family lived in Belgium (military base) one of the wives went to high school with Sally Field and she didn't understand what was so special about her. It's true what they say that no one is regarded special in one's own place.

There's lots to be remembered about Reynolds, and it so sad about the health condition he developed.

Age 62?? I loved Burt back in the day. He always seemed so likeable. And who can forget Cosmo??

Burt was 82 (Olivia, you can go to edit, advanced, and correct your thread title)

The ex-jock from Florida starred in 'Deliverance' and 'Boogie Nights' but preferred making such populist, fun fare as 'Smokey and the Bandit,' 'The Cannonball Run' and 'Starting Over.'

Burt Reynolds, the charismatic star of such films as Deliverance, The Longest Yard and Smokey and the Bandit who set out to have as much fun as possible on and off the screen — and wildly succeeded — has died. He was 82.

Reynolds, who received an Oscar nomination when he portrayed porn director Jack Horner in Paul Thomas Anderson's Boogie Nights (1997) and was the No. 1 box-office attraction for a five-year stretch starting in the late 1970s, died Thursday morning at Jupiter Medical Center in Florida, his manager, Erik Kritzer, told The Hollywood Reporter.

I liked him best in:

Starting Over with Jill Clayburgh & Candace Bergen
Deliverance was kinda creepy but Burt with his bow & arrow....SEXY! :) Great shot, btw.
Run Simon Run TV movie with the late Inger Stevens
Dan August TV series, Burt played police lieutenant

I remember he was with Dinah Shore for quite awhile, then Sally Field
I never was a fan of Loni Anderson...their marriage ended acrimoniously.

RIP Burt.

I remember him always chewing gum on late nite tv shows....good actor, nice personality, good sense of humor and so handsome till the end...
RIP Mr. Reynolds....

His best TV role was 'Wood Newton' in CBS comedy'Evening Shade' '90-'94.The show was set in a fictious 'Evening Shade,Ala.He was the star running back for his high school football team. He returns home yrs later to coach the team

R.I.P

Loved Burt and am sorry to say goodbye. We watched "Smokey and the Bandit" last night - he and Sally Field were adorable together. It brought me back to the CB and trucker craze that swept the nation after that movie!

My husband and I have informal lists of famous people we'd like to live next door to us, or would like to hang out with for a few beers in a pub. Burt was high on both lists. We're surprisingly picky about who we put on our lists - very few politicians have made the pub list never mind the next door list. (For instance, we greatly enjoyed Anthony Bourdain. He was on our pub list but not the next door list. Eric Ripert, on the other hand, makes both lists, and not because of his cooking skills.)
