In the past I have bought wine by mail order from my favourite vineyard. They used to charge £6 for any mainland UK delivery. This was OK, but this year the cost shot up to £14.50. When I queried this, I got the usual response that the delivery company (DHL) had put the prices up and there were surcharges for The Highlands and Islands of Scotland. Although I don't live there, they seem to think that they can still charge me. Anyway, the nice people at the vineyard said that they were launching a new cider (alcoholic in the UK) and if I bought some, there was the offer of free postage on the whole order.
OK, I'll try that and set about ordering online. This was fine until the end when I reviewed the order and it said Free delivery, delivery £14.50. I called the vineyard and they tried to process the order for me, but they got the same result - free delivery, delivery £14.50. They couldn't figure this out and admitted that there must be a fault in their system. Anyway, they manually altered it and charged the correct amount, but had no idea what the problem was.
