Cable News is "Hyper-local"

By their own claim. If you're looking for hard-hitting investigative reporting, Spectrum News would not be for you. At the beginning of their half-hour segments they have "News in 90" where International, National and/or statewide news is mentioned in headline style in 90 seconds. Then they move into the local segment, but it more "bread and butter" reporting like a teenager who is making hats to raise money for charity, or a new restaurant opening.

Any branded media calling themselves 'news' isn't worth a plug nickel. The audience becomes captive, gets a cascade of commercials showed down their thoughts, and heavily tailored 'news' tidbits designed to spark fear and rage. The best local news is from the small town through-a-way papers.

Most cable news is pretty bad. They run the same 3-4 stories all week. Just watching cable news you'll miss about 80% of what's happening in the world. I dumped it a few years ago and now find great news from all over the world thanks to Roku. I'm never going back to cable news.

The evening news has changed so much since the days of three networks that maintained news bureaus around the world.

I get upset when the news tries to present advertisements for upcoming programs or advertising spots for local businesses as news or human interest stories.

I also find it offensive when the talking heads try to analyze the news and include the opinions of their network.

Our local New York One, Spectrum, but available to other cable systems in NYC, is the best local news and the readers have been shown in many many movies, like Godzilla, Spiderman, Batman, The Penguin series, I can't name enough.

They are why I don't give up cable. I'd really miss the cast and their fabulous in depth reporting of NYC news.

Great reporters like Erroll Lewis, Pat Kiernan, Jamie Stelter, Roger Clark, Cheryl Wills, Anika Pergament, I could just go on and on, they are great, Spectrum Local News in NYC is great.

Our local (kansas city) news channels have been devoting
most stories relating to the KC Chiefs football, and Royals
baseball, for abt 3 yrs now, there is seldom any in depth news
coverage regarding local living conditions, crime trends even
political trends, it is just so crazy now...I quit watching local
news channels some time ago, get most news from web.....
