Cable service costs continue to rise

There's a free Roku channel I recently added called "Haystack" for news and local news, which is sometimes hard to find. I can't use an antenna.

Rick wanted to cut the cord a couple years ago. We went to antenna and streaming services (Prime, Hulu, Netflix_)
It was OK, but I missed some of the cable channels. SO, after he passed, I dropped Hulu and Netflix and picked up cable. I will be dropping Prime when subscription is up.
For me, yes the cost is high, but not much more than we were paying for the Internet/phone bundle and the streaming services. And I am getting content I want to watch. I do not gamble, drink or smoke, so this is my primary form of entertainment. I do not go out to movies either.
Using that analogy, I am OK with the expense

I live in a rural area, so options are few. I pay $50 a month for internet through Frontier, which also provides streaming (via Roku) for TV, albeit somewhat limited. That's okay, I'm not a big TV watcher anyway. And no land line is available here. I also have Consumer Cellular for $45 a month.

I refuse to pay for TV Channels...That being said, I have my children give me Hulu Gift cards and use them to unlock many Channels like HGTV..
So far I am paid up to October..(y)
