Cakes Pies and Ice Cream

Whether you're at your favorite Farrell Ice Cream, Loard's or maybe at Baker's Square or Marie Callendars.
Don't forget also that Cheesecake Factory makes good ice also.
Whether we have a bicycle, car or skateboard let's get to one of these places.

I'm kind of a simple eater, even with desserts. That's ok whatever works with each person anyways.
Let's talk about cakes, pies, and ice cream that you like to have when you go out or at home.
I'll start this off with Chocolate Mousse cake which I haven't had in a long time.
I also like Walmart's Freshness Guaranteed Triple Chocolate Cake.
But I like Betty Crockers Chocolate and lemon cakes.
When it comes to pies I only like lemon. If we're talking about the ones you stick in lunch boxes then I like blueberry cherry and lemon.
When it comes to ice cream I like Foster Freeze Vanilla Ice Cream cone. I used to like orange and rainbow sherbet but not anymore.
After sherbet I changed to Rocky Road. Then I went to Thrifty's for Chocolate and that was fine.
Finally, I found a better one at Thrifty's which was Chocolate Brownies.

I don't like Baskin Robbins and when they merged with Dunkin Donuts I don't like them. It's so generic.
Those 2 places should go out of business. Last is when I went to Farrells or Loards I would get the same thing all the time
is a hot fudge sundae. And my favorite thing to drink with these is cold water.

Ok who would like to talk about their favorite cakes, pies, or ice cream?
Isn't this such a fun topic because there's no wrong answer.

My favorite cakes are German chocolate, plum cake, apfelkuchen, and spice cake with caramel buttercream frosting. I also like chocolate mousse cake, but I prefer to eat delicious chocolate mousse, hopefully in unlimited quantities. My Tante used to make the most delicious apfelkuchen. She was a really greak cook and baker. She didn't measure anything and nothing she baked was ever flawed in any way. Unfortunately, she also didn't write down her recipes.

I like fruit pies, pecan pie, pumpkin pie, and chocolate pie. I do not like lemon or lime pies. I can make pie crusts, and they taste a lot better than store-bought. But my pies never look like the photos I see in magazines and cookbooks. I am not very artistic, to say the least.

I like ice-cream, but only if it is a quality brand. Baskin-Robbins used to make my favorite ice-cream: German chocolate cake. I like Friendly's chocolate almond ice-cream, and chocolate truffle ice-cream, black cherry, raspberry, homemade vanilla. I also like Dairy Queen's soft-serve vanilla. And Ben & Jerry's New York super fudge chunk. I noticed that a lot of ice-cream brands, like Breyers, have a lot of "frozen dairy dessert" all of a sudden. This is not ice-cream, I think because of FDA regulations, so I check now to make sure my ice-cream is full of the stuff that will make me fat.

I'd own an ice-cream maker, but if I did, I'd eat ice-cream a lot more often. Like maybe 3 times a day.

Mostly, I make my own desserts, but not too often so I don't get fat. My own baking is my favorite. This doesn't mean it is great, it just means I like it best. Simply said, it is pretty easy to make cakes, pies, and cookies. Getting fancy with cake decorating, etc., is nowhere near being my strong point.

What about cookies, @i'myourpal ? Do you like them? My favorite cookies are peanut butter (must have fork prints, so they will be crisp and thin), date-nut cookies, wedding cookies (pecan cookies rolled in powdered sugar), and very thin crisp sugar cookies, iced or not.

Cakes Pies and Ice Cream

3 Questions....

1/. Do you buy the giant sized tubs of ice cream?

2/. Do you have a big freezer full?

3?. If yes to 1 and 2........ where do you live? 😊
Absolutely!

I've been known throughout my life to be a little picky. I wouldn't ever eat anything that had coconut or any ginger in it.
I'll just name a few cookies that I like.
First is Hydrox brand. I found in an article that Hydrox came out before Oreo.
So, I prefer the Hydrox quality more because it's more crunchy and less sweet.
Next is chocolate crunchy chocolate chip cookies from the store. Nestle toll House baked cookies.
Fig Newtons and Oatmeal (iced or not) Vanilla and Lemon sandwich cookies.
Mother's name brand double fudge cookies. Mother's chocolate with walnuts but was taken off the market.
The best Mother's cookie was the iced chocolate but yet again taken off the market.
Last is Keebler's grasshopper cookie and Scouts of America mint cookies.

The only dessert I walk away from is pecan pie. I love, love pecans but that filling is just gross. I cook all the time, make a lot of pies but I have never made a pecan pie and never will!!

I just remembered that I've changed since I've grown up. I used to eat popsicles (otter pops) and kool aid cubes.
Not anymore in the least. Do any of you remember the Good Humor truck that went down the truck with that carnival music?
I used to quickly look for change, put my shoes on and run to catch the truck.

Does any remember or have an experience with the ice cream truck?

My Grandmother raised me and every Sunday was Cakes and Sweets day.
My Grandmother would be in the kitchen for about 6 hours baking Sponge cakes (Especially loved her Chocolate layered Sponges with copious Chocolate Icing)and scones. Cheesecakes, Wine Trifle with Sherry. Pavlovas, Lamingtons, Fruit Strudels.........
We children would pick wild Blackberries and Granma would make a pie served with whipped cream.
Such great memories there.
Probably the reason I have always has a sweet tooth :)

I wish I could have a piece of my mother's yellow cake with chocolate icing or orange cake both made from scratch of course. I'd love to have them with Hagen Dazs vanilla ice cream. But the next best thing is Costco's apple pie with ice cream. Sooooo good!

@i'myourpal you probably really wouldn't want an Oreo now. My son and my honorary daughter said they were taken over by a "new" company and just don't taste the same.

Yes, we had an ice cream truck but it was up to us to buy from our chore/allowance money. The milk man would bring us an ice cream treat on our birthdays.

Shoprites, Price Rites and Walmarts here in New Jersey still sell Hostess products.
They still sell Hostess here. I'm just saying that they are different tasting in recent days. Plus, the fact they are
smaller for the same price. (n)
